- The Baptism Team responds to the pastor/associate pastor when a baptism is scheduled on whether or not he/she is available. This team is accountable to the pastor.
- Members who are available will help with various aspects of the baptism:
- Filling/emptying the baptism pool (including placing a step-up for children or shorter candidates). Filling should be started no later than morning before scheduled baptism. Some monitoring is required to ensure proper filling is complete and the circulating/heating process has begun. The draining process should be started no earlier than immediately following the 11:00am service.
- Placing non-slip material to cover the steps leading to/from the baptism pool. This can be done day before or morning of baptism.
- Placing towels for the candidate and pastor in changing rooms and at the baptism pool. Can be done day of baptism.
- Placing robes in the changing areas for pastor and candidate
- Assisting and directing the candidate through the entire process (this will always be gender specific: females helping females and males helping males)
- Collection of mats for drying.
- Collection/washing/drying/storing of towels and robes used during baptism.
- Time expectations vary. Members assisting candidates should arrive no later than 30 minutes before the baptism service, and should assist the candidate through the process until he/she has joined the worship service.
